28th ferry to puerto Vallarta

Friday morning saw us awaken in the ferry seats... Slightly uncomfortable.... But happy that by 7am we would be back on the bikes....

Who said the ferry would dock at 6am??? As 10am was the real time... And last on first off doesn't apply. Trucks get priority. By the time noon passed, we were off the boat, gone through the military checkpoint and on our way.

The mainland Mexico compared to Baja is like comparing two different countries. The first thing that strikes you is that the hills and mountains are actually covered in green.... Stunningly beautiful! The second thing that surprised us all was the cost of using the toll roads.... In the road to Tepic we spent over $40 in two hours...

Arriving in Tepic the boys were seriously in need of some curved roads.... It was about 530... And we thought the last 180km would see us enjoying dinner by 8 at the latest. Little did we realize that the road traversed some serious mountains... Was narrow... And the main gateway to the Mexican riviera. This was no impediment to the bikes, but the van got hopelessly stuck in the traffic queues traveling at a mere 10km per hour as the road wound it's way through this magnificent greenery.

11pm finally had us booked into a hotel and seated and enjoying some Indian food for a change.... It was one of the few restaurants still open, the owner had a photo of himself and his wife in his wallet.... Taken in the queenstown gondola.

Saturday was unanimously decided on as a lay-day. We chilled, walked, swam in the pool, lunched .... Even visited the lighthouse bar after enjoying some great Argentinian beef for dinner.
